GETTING READY 1. Read the hike description to make sure it's a good fit for your family. We try to offer a variety of hikes. 2. Reserve a spot using the link right after the hike description. 3. Visit our Google Maps site to get customized directions from your house. 4. Make some simple preparations for the hike: * Study shoes, wool socks * Layered clothes. Hats and gloves in winter. * Water and a snack * Get more advice in our documents: Hiking with Kids, Winter Clothing Recommendations, and our Hiking Checklist. 5. Help your children respect nature by visiting Leave No Trace site. UPCOMING HIKES March 7th - 1:30 pm - Ward Reservation in nearby Andover has a unique quaking bog, a board walk, and "Solstice Stones" marking the grassy summit of Holt Hill, the highest point in Essex County. It's only 400 ft, but has great views. We'll sample a bit of each of the sections at Ward Reservation on our 2 mile, 2 hour walk. Directions: From I-93 Exit 41, take Rt. 125 North 5 mi. Turn right onto Prospect Rd. and follow for 0.3 mi. to entrance and parking (15 cars) on right. CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN!!! March 14 - 1:30pm - Maple Sugaring at Moose Hill - Moose Hill is Mass Audubon’s oldest sanctuary and one of the largest with nearly 2,000 acre and a 25-mile trail system brings you through diverse habitats. We'll take a nice walk and also participate in the Maple Sugar Festival, including a tour. Register below early as space may fill up. Moose Hill is located at 293 Moose Hill Street Sharon, MA 02067 March 21st - 1pm. NOT OUR USUAL TIME! - Owl of the World Program at Fruitland - Join naturalist Marcia Wilson and photographer Mark Wilson and share their passion for owls! “Who’s Watching You? Owls of the World” will introduce you to the owls of New England and beyond. Meet six live owls up close.
